Dohn Construction Celebrates 30th Anniversary

We at Dohn, an award-winning, industry-leading, general contractor are celebrating our 30th anniversary of helping clients build their vision with a yearlong celebration. Allow us to quickly take you on a journey of our story and how you have played a part in it.

The Humble Beginnings

Founded in 1992, Doug and Connie Dohn set out with the desire to change the general contracting industry through valuing clients, team members, and subcontractors. What started as a small construction company quickly grew as word spread about our philosophy and approach to the construction process.

Starting off we constructed projects such as the Opera Galleria Remodels, multiple Silver Mine Subs locations, and many custom homes, doing so provided an environment that fostered the employee-centric culture Doug sought to create. With this solid foundation in place, we were able to grow our job portfolio in size and quantity, while diversifying the types of projects from residential to commercial, schools and learning centers, health care & wellness, office spaces, various municipal structures, and retail.

The Path to Success

As time progressed and more projects were completed the employee-centric ethos that Doug envisioned bled into how we approached our relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and professionals throughout Northern Colorado.

With these colleagues in construction, we built collaborative relationships through trust and open communication creating lifelong partnerships.

The march of progress continued, and our project list grew to include higher education projects such as CSU’s College of Business Rockwell Hall Addition, custom commercial projects like Ginger & Baker, and unique multi-family projects similar to the Uncommon Apartments.

 

Expanding Our Footprint

As our reach grew, we knew it was time to branch out, keeping within the initial vision of the company and seeing our projects expand outside of the Northern Colorado footprint prompted us to expand into the Denver Metro area. In 2019, an opportunity arose to make this move by acquiring a growing general contracting firm and its team in Denver. By doing so, we were able to satisfy our client's needs while maintaining the founding visions of the company.

Though the growth was quick, we have never lost sight of the past and more importantly the significance of our team members.

 

It’s solely due to the quality of our team that has allowed us to deliver our client's dreams. This celebration of 30 years at Dohn is just as much a celebration of those who have taken part of the journey, as it is to the company itself.

Giving back to the community through the projects we build, and the spaces they provide is a small part of what we can do. On top of that we enjoy seeing the success of our team members and their families and our philanthropic endeavors have allowed us to raise over $200,000 through our charity golf tournament in the last 10 years for local non-profits.
